As a social change agent Marilyn Bekolo finds meaning and fulfillment in empowering others through education attainment. Bekolo is a first-generation American and proud product of Detroit Public Schools in which both experiences heightened her desire to advocate for underprivileged students in impoverished communities. She continues to develop a path for herself to serve as a leader in education and cultural diversity. Possessing the intellectual rigor to navigate ambiguity and execute solution oriented results as well as interpersonal skills derived from an international upbringing and diverse work experience from nonprofits, academic environments, governments, and Fortune 100 corporations around the world. She could be described as a conscientious self-starter with several years of combined experience in education, technology, operations, organizational development, and consulting.
Bekolo is currently the Founder & Principal Education Consultant for N+P - Education Consultancy in Houston, Texas. Her work has resulted in corporate funding, strategic partnerships, enhanced employee engagements, and student academic success for private individuals and non-profits organizations. She has provided her talents and skills in education to the enrichment of various organizations including: Google, YouTube, Accenture, KIPP, Black Girls Code, Technovation, The Julia Morgan School for Girls, Howard University, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.'s A.S.C.E.N.D, Empoder, and much more.
As a former chairperson on Google's Legal Online Operations Board she championed several diversity & inclusion initiatives. She is a life-member of Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity (Psi Tau Chapter), Graduate member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (Xi Gamma Omega Chapter), and Education Pioneers 2017 Fall Fellow. Outside of consulting she serves as the Director of Organizational Strategy, Initiatives, and Culture for YES Prep Public Schools in Houston, TX. Bekolo is an honors graduate of Howard University and majored in Communications & Culture and specialized in Legal Communications with a concentration in Economics.
